In 2002, Bishop Robert Baker of the Diocese of Charleston approved the request of the pastor and a dedicated group of founding parishioners for the opening of Prince of Peace Catholic School in Taylors between Greenville and Greer South Carolina. In August 2003, we opened our doors for the first time to 46 Kindergarten to 2ndgrade students.
Now in our 10th year, we offer families a complete PreK4 to 8th grade program with enrollment of 275 students. Class sizes this year range from 16 (K to 5th) to 23 (in middle school).
Our commitment to academic excellence is in our preparation of students for an honors high school curriculum and after that college. Our students will attend schools like St. Joseph’s Catholic School Greenville or the highly rated Riverside or Eastside Public High Schools. Most of our classes test in the top 10% in the nation on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills in BOTH Reading and Math (see our current Iowa scores for every grade level on the “Parents” link under “Documents” or click HERE). We have had students win state ribbons and awards in Spelling Bee, Science Fair, Music Festivals, and Mathcounts.
We cultivate a faith environment with weekly Mass, the offering of frequent confessions, instruction in the Catholic faith, and the celebration of the lives of the saints and the liturgical year which are all part of our spiritual mission. Read more: POPCS Spiritual Mission
