Accreditation & Affiliations
Prince of Peace Catholic School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools or SACS. We achieved full accreditation for the first time in 2012 as a member of Diocese of Charleston (South Carolina) network of Catholic schools. Accreditation requires our school to meet or exceed a rigorous set of research-based standards and best practices provided to us and supervised by the accreditation consulting organization AdvancED.
Unlike non-Catholic schools accredited by SACS with the assistance of AdvancED, however, Prince of Peace
Catholic School uses the National Standards and Benchmarks For Effective Catholic Elementary and Secondary Schools. These standards are published by Loyola University’s department of education and created with input from the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) and the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops (USCCB). These Catholic standards partner with AdvancED standards to achieve a vision for Catholic schools that can ensure operational vitality and achievement while maintaining and deepening our Catholic mission and Catholic identity.
South Carolina Independent Schools Association
Prince of Peace Catholic School is a member of the South Carolina Independent Schools Association, an organization of private, Christian, independent schools in the state. Membership makes possible our participation with a network of private schools to access resources and leadership who embrace non-public school missions in our state. Our students are also invited to compete with children from other non-public school members in events such as Quiz Bowl, Spelling Bee, Science Fair, Math Competition, and the annual Music Festival held annually at the University of South Carolina’s School of Music.
National Catholic Educational Association
The National Catholic Educational Association or NCEA is an organization serving our Catholic Schools throughout the country. Membership makes available opportunities for professional development, networking, educational publications, webinars, support for school leadership and more.
